The problem with AI

Ok lets cut to the chase, AI has potential. But that potential has been wasted. I will admit I use AI daily and it takes a lot of prompt engineering to get the results. But the problem is not AI. The problem is how the industry is abusing AI.

Now everything from applying for a minimum wage job to making a complaint uses AI. I get it, have something automated replace the people originally doing the most mundane postions. But when AI is used in a way where its a downgrade for whats its replacing it’s honestly laughable. I shouldn’t have to chat with a bot to get a job.

The question is, how does it affect the film industry. Software like Davinci Resolve uses AI to transcribe audio into a script to edit faster, and even can isolate voices from background audio. These features save time. But when AI is producing the entire video hallucinating images of people with 3 heads it is just pointless.

And social media, AI is making people lazier. I see these accounts trying to act as historical pages or something, but instead is FEAR MONGERING ABOUT DRONES MONITORING HOW FAST YOU DRIVE. All of these articles it creates are made up out of thin air, as many posts as it can produce per hour. Just to farm views.

What is more disturbing. Videos of out of touch tech ceos making commencement speeches at colleges; which is supposed to inspire those who spent time and money to earn something of supposed value to them and their careers, just to be told they won’t even have a shot because AI will replace them and to deal with it. Yet with all this promise Google Maps still freaks out when I deliberately try to avoid a road due to a accident. AI seems like it was a mistake. And someone should go in and delete it while we have a chance.

I implore you, to be careful with AI. Its a poison to not only the industry I care about but a poison to humanity itself. We need to deslopify the world.
